At Skin MB, we’re a medical spa that offers a wide range of beauty and health treatments that allow you to look and feel your best. Along with medical massage, facial fillers, and skin tightening, laser treatments have proven to be an extremely popular option for our clients. It’s hardly the stuff of science fiction. Rather, laser treatments are a real world option with a number of applications.
But how are lasers used for health and rejuvenation treatments? A few of the different ways are:
- Lasers are frequently used for hair removal. With a targeted burst of light, the laser heats up the surface of the skin. The laser is then absorbed by the pigment in the hair, and it proceeds to zap the hair follicle and destroy it. This prevents hair from regrowing in that specific area.
- In the last couple of years, lasers have enjoyed increased usage for anti-aging treatments. There are two main methods, which are resurfacing and photorejuvenation. With resurfacing, the laser is used to remove the top layer of skin. When it grows back, it does so with fewer blemishes and wrinkles, and the new layer is softer and tighter. With photorejuvenation, the laser helps to boost the production of collagen in the skin. This reduces wrinkles and lines in the face.
- A popular usage for lasers is correction treatments. The laser can be used to break down scarring caused by acne and age spotting. It’s also utilized to break up and ultimately destroy thread veins found on the face and legs.
