Back in the day, if you heard something about lasers, you’d immediately think of science fiction. That’s no longer the case. Today, science and beauty have come together to provide us with laser treatments.
Laser skin treatment is minimally invasive, and there’s virtually no downtime and no pain. There are three kinds of laser treatments, and today we’ll briefly go over them.
- Laser hair removal works by a short beam of light used to zap the surface of the skin. It’s removed by the pigment in the hair, which heats up and damages the hair follicle, preventing hair from re-growing. This works best for those with pale skin and dark hair. It’s not terribly effective for white, gray, or ginger hair, since the laser targets the pigment in the hair.
- Lasers have come to the forefront in the world of anti-aging beauty treatment. One option is a resurfacing treatment, where the laser removes a layer of skin from the face, causing softer and tighter skin to grow back with less visible blemishes. Another option is photorejuvenation, in which the laser stimulates the production of collagen in the skin, causing wrinkles and fine lines to plump out.
- With correction treatments, skin blemishes such as acne scars, age spots, rosacea, and others can be broken down with careful application of a laser. It can also be used to damage and destroy thread veins on the face and hands so they gradually dissolve.
