- The sun is not always your friend, especially when it comes to the health of your skin. When high temperatures hit, the pores of your skin will clog because of increased oil production. If you get into the habit of facials on a monthly basis, your pores can be cleaned out, and you’ll be able to relax and give your skin a chance to heal.
- Sunlight contains free radicals that can be heavily damaging to your skin. One great way to fight back is with topical antioxidants, such as quality moisturizers. Also, by eating foods like berries, spinach, tomatoes, and sweet potatoes, your body will gain stronger defenses naturally.
- Every morning, be sure to apply a sunscreen with a minimum SPF #15, or a #30 if you have increased sun exposure. However, remember that sunscreen wears off, so be sure to reapply every 2 hours, or every hour if you’re in direct sunlight.
- It’s always a pain when you get a sunburn, but the old canard of applying aloe or lotion to a sunburn doesn’t work. That’s because it traps heat in your skin, keeping the burn red longer. Believe it or not, but a generous application of cold yogurt will remove the heat. Let it dry, then rinse it off and reapply 20 minutes later.
